PICS: Brooklyn police lead joint crime prevention and clean-up operation

The Brooklyn SA Police Service (SAPS) lead a joint crime prevention and clean-up operation in the early morning hours of Friday morning, July 28.

More than 90 SAPS members, Tshwane metro police officers and security officers from various companies – Inter Active, Hi-Risk, CSI, Fidelity ADT and Tactical Edge – reported for duty at the Brooklyn police station.

The operation was carried out in high-risk areas where there are high numbers of burglaries, robberies and drug-related crimes. The goal of the operation was to find suspicious people in the open fields and abandoned homes in the Pretoria East areas.

During the search, more than 80 people had their fingerprints scanned with the Morpho Touch device to check for any wanted suspects. The operation moved to an abandoned home where several homeless people were found among drug paraphernalia.

The visibility of police in these areas gives residents a sense of safety and is important to keep criminals at bay. The Brooklyn SAPS promise to continue these operations throughout the rest of the year.
