PICS: Africans on Twitter post photos of govt officials in ‘questionable’ outfits

There is a Twitter thread that has united Africans who are complaining about government officials in their countries, who dress and conduct themselves in public in “questionable” ways.

The thread was started by user Princess Ife, who complained about a senator in her country, though she did not specify which one. The man in the photo looks like he could be 43-year-old Dino Melaye, a member of Nigeria’s 8th National Assembly.

“Somebody help,” Princess Ife wrote in the tweet.

People then started contributing to her thread, with some laughing, while some posted pictures of officials in their countries, and said they could not help, as they too had issues to deal with.

“Wish I could, but this man right here is the governor of my country, Nairobi,” said Robby Masha, along with a picture of the said governor. The governor in the photo could be 42-year-old Mike Sonko.

Some of those who commented said Sonko looked like the fourth member of American music group Migos.

He has apparently changed his style now, with pictures of him in suits being posted by those defending him.

Even our very own Police Minister Fikile Mbalula made it on to the list, with South Africans saying they could not help their African brothers and sisters, as they has their own “problem”.

Twitter last week rose up against Mbalula, with a #BlockFikileMbalula campaign, as people tried to block him so he could stop tweeting and focus on fighting crime.

Mbalula has also been criticised for his funky clothes, which some deem inappropriate. However, when he saw his picture being submitted to the list of the ‘problematic’ government officials, Mbalula said people were just jealous of him.

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba also made it to the list.

These were the rest of the officials whose pictures were submitted:
