Netcare911 reports that paramedics responded to a drowning at a home in Meyerton on Wednesday afternoon, reports the Sedibeng Ster.
Upon arrival, paramedics found a mother initiating Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation to her toddler.
A Netcare911 Advanced Life Support paramedic then took over from the mother and began applying advanced life saving techniques.
It was a joint effort by Netcare911 paramedics, paramedics from another private service and officials from Midvaal Fire and Rescue. Paramedics worked fervently for about an hour until a pulse was restored.
Once restored, the boy was loaded into a Netcare911 ambulance and transported to a nearby health facility where a Netcare911 Dedicated Intensive Care Unit ambulance and crew was awaiting the boy.
The boy was then transported to a hospital in Johannesburg which holds the Paediatric Drowning Centre of Excellence.
