Three people were shot at Bluff’s Ansteys Beach in KZN on Saturday evening after an argument between an off-duty policeman and SANDF soldiers.

Details have emerged regarding the shootout on Ansteys Beach on the Bluff in Durban last Saturday night.

A night at the beach turned bloody after three people were shot, reports Southlands Sun.

The recent shooting allegedly involved three SANDF soldiers, who targeted an off-duty policeman and his family, according to the South African.

Rescue Care paramedics found the three lying on the ground, all having sustained gunshot wounds. Two of the three were allegedly friends with the off-duty officer, while the third was an innocent bystander that sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

It is reported that the police officer and his family were leaving the beach when they experienced car trouble. Three SANDF soldiers who were not in uniform got into an argument with the officer, and shots were fired.

Two women and one man, all believed to be in their 20s, had been shot. Additional ambulances and advanced life support paramedics were called to assist.

Three people sustained serious injuries.

The two women sustained critical injuries as a result of gunshots to their upper body.

The injured trio was stabilised and transported to a nearby hospital.

Additional allegations detail how the soldiers returned to their guesthouse in the area and fired randomly towards visitors at the beach.

No one has been arrested, but the SANDF confirmed that they are aware of the incident, but will be dealing with it privately.
