Two dead after light aircraft crash in Plettenberg Bay

One occupant of the aircraft died at the scene, and the other in hospital, on Monday evening.


Two people lost their lives when a light aircraft crashed near Plettenberg Bay Airport on Monday evening, the Western Cape Government Health’s emergency medical service confirmed to Knysna-Plett Herald.

“Two male patients were trapped in the aircraft,” department spokesperson Deanna Bessick said.

“Sadly, one was fatally injured on the scene [yesterday] and the other passed away in hospital [last night].”

“Our sincere condolences to the family of the two deceased.”

It is also not yet clear what caused the crash.

The wreckage of the aircraft is currently in the Plettenberg Bay Airport Business Park.
