ANC NEC meeting tackles administrative issues then adjourns for the day

The ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting, which started late on Friday afternoon, adjourned at 7pm and will resume again at 9am on Saturday.

Matters tackled in the meeting on Friday included soft and administrative issues and the more weightier issues will be tabled on Saturday.

TimesLIVE reports the meeting was adjourned just 20 minutes after it started but that Zizi Kodwa, the ANC spokesperson, confirmed this was “normal procedure”. Yet TimesLIVE reported that “traditionally” the president would being the NEC meetings with a political overview, or the ANC secretary general would report on the national working committee.

The news website further reports it is believed that supporters of Zuma would try to suppress any attempts to discuss the removal of the president from office during the meeting.

Earlier on Friday, The Citizen reported the stalwarts and veterans of the ANC wrote an open letter to the party’s NEC, imploring its members to resolve concerns of state capture and leadership problems within the party.
