N3 Toll alert: Entire route currently closed – Here’s why

The N3 Route Toll Concession on Friday issued a road closure alert for the vicinity of Montrose in the Free State, following an accident.

A truck carrying cooking oil was involved in a pileup, and the agency said “all vehicles are stacked at the scene”.

An extensive cleanup operation is underway and motorists should expect long delays.

“Road users are advised to avoid the area or delay their trips for the time being.”

The accident occurred shortly after 5am on Friday morning. As of 9am, the road was still closed.
