Police kill gangster

The shooting comes five days after an alleged gang leader was killed in a shootout with police in Cottonlands near Verulam.

The 22-year-old man was linked to multiple crimes committed in Inanda, KwaMashu and the surrounding areas.

A warrant of arrest connected to a murder case had been issued against the man, with authorities having linked him to at least 10 other murders.

His other alleged crimes included attempted murder, arson and robbery.

“He unfortunately attempted to kill police officers, and such an act invited the police to defend themselves, and in doing so he decided his own fate,” stated KZN police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
