More woes for axed Hawks head Ntlemeza as O’Sullivan guns for him
'I shall also be coming after you,' warns the forensic consultant in an email to Ntlemeza. He wants R100m.

Ex Hawks boss Lieutenant General Berning Ntlemeza’s may have escaped disciplinary action for the time being after being damned by a full bench of the North Gauteng High Court, but forensic Consultant Paul O’Sullivan hasn’t finished with him yet.
“I will make sure you (personally) pay the legal costs, not the taxpayer,” wrote O’Sullivan in a widely disseminated email to Ntlemeza after the court removed him from his post on Wednesday.
“I shall also be coming after you, [former Gauteng Hawks head Major General Prince] Mokotedi, [former national head of detectives Vinesh] Moonoo and [acting national commissioner Khomotso] Phahlane, jointly and severally for R100 million for what you have done to me, my family, my business and my staff,” wrote O’Sullivan.
“Prison will NOT save you from what is coming your way.”
O’Sullivan, Ntlemeza and Mokotedi have long butted heads with O’Sullivan’s typical bullish approach.
“Nkandla is nothing at all compared to what’s going on at Wachthuis, where the rot has set in so deeply. We are in danger of becoming a criminal-police state. In fact, if anything, Nkandla is a distraction, that crooked cops are using as a smoke screen while they burn out country,” O’Sullivan wrote to Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2015.
More recently, he has also fired off missives to the parliamentary portfolio committee on policing.
“For what it’s worth, Moonoo, Phahlane, Ntlemeza and Mokotedi have waged war against me using and abusing massive state resources, for the better part of two years now, costing me well in excess of R5 million,” Sullivan wrote.
“Their assault against me (merely to silence my voice against corruption) has been so savage, as to deplete my savings and detract my ability as a (previously) substantial taxpayer, while they attack me using the very same taxes that I contribute to.
“Since one of the honourable members of your committee has suggested that I be requested to come and give evidence about the outlandish and fraudulent allegations of both Phahlane and the minister, I hereby undertake to attend such committee meeting without the need for a subpoena. I will not expect a contribution to my airfare either.”
On Thursday, newly installed Police Minister Fikile Mbalula alluded to O’Sullivan while announcing the new acting head of the hawks, Lieutenant General Yolisa Matakata.
“Perceptions that people are just being chased for political reasons, it’s a real thing; we must deal with that,” said Mbalula.
