Mbete to reveal decision on no-confidence motion in Zuma soon

Parliament spokesperson Moloto Mothapo has said Baleka Mbete will begin a process of consultation and communicate with the EFF, DA and UDM on convening parliament to debate a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

“The Speaker has committed to begin the process of consultation on Tuesday, and she will do that and write to those parties that have written to her.

“Unfortunately, we cannot give a blow-by-blow account of that process of consultation, but she did indicate that it will be done swiftly.”

Parliament was expected to reconvene in May, but should the debate be allowed, the opposition parties will need 50 ANC MPs to vote against Zuma. This would result in him being removed as president of the country.
