Many of us don’t think the DA can unite the nation, says Makhosi Khoza

Former ANC MP Makhosi Khoza said she could never join the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) or the Democratic Alliance (DA), as she does not subscribe to their politics.

She quit the ruling party after receiving numerous death threats following her criticism of the ANC and President Jacob Zuma.

Khoza said she did not regret leaving the ANC.

“I am happier and more fulfilled now than when I was in the ANC. See my latest photographs. I’m not emotionally drained anymore,” she said in a long social media post on Monday.

Khoza said the EFF came after the failure of Cope, Agang, UDM, ID and IFP, and became the third largest political party in the country.

“Today it is number 3. I don’t subscribe to their political school of thought, and can therefore not join them simply because they are there.

“I cannot join the DA because like many South Africans I think some of its views do not assist the restoration of human dignity of those who were psychologically brutalised and stunted by colonial and apartheid systems,” she said.

Khoza said “many of us do not think they [DA] can unite us” as a nation.

“The pain that some of its former members were subjected to is really hard to ignore. I cannot go back to the ANC, it has betrayed the mission that made me to associate with it,” she said.

Khoza also said she did not support the two leading ANC presidential hopefuls, Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
