Man shot dead in hunting incident in Limpopo
Limpopo police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a 23-year-old farm worker was shot dead by hunters during an alleged 'mistaken identity' incident, police said on Sunday.
“The hunters, a man and woman, were allegedly hunting for warthogs ‘bosvarke’ at the Meisiesvlei farm, Tuinplaas, last night [Saturday] at about [8.30pm] when he allegedly heard some movements. The man then fired shots in the same direction,” Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said.
“It is alleged when they reached the spot they realised they shot a human being. The police were then called. The victim died on the scene. The firearm used has been taken for ballistic examination. It is said the deceased worked on a neighbouring farm and could be aged 23 or 24. Police investigations are continuing,” Mojapelo said.
