Makhura builds a house for Mandela Day
The area where the premier was helping out has been gripped by service delivery protests in recent weeks.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura on Tuesday did his bit for Mandela Day in Drieziek, south of Johannesburg.
Makhura, who was joined by human settlements MEC Paul Mashatile, helped to build a house in the area situated near the Golden Highway.
Makhura was dressed in green overalls and a helmet as he poured cement on the walls of the house under construction.
Mandela Day is celebrated globally, where everyone is encouraged to do something to improve the lives of the less fortunate.
The area where the premier was falls under Emfuleni Local Municipality, which has in recent weeks been gripped by service delivery protests.
