Makhosi Khoza’s message to those opposed to her new party

Former ANC MP Makhosi Khoza is launching a new political party named Change following her shock exit from the party she had been a part of from her youth.

The party will see the merger of a number of local organisations, including the Metsimaholo Civic Association and the Forum 4 Service Delivery, and also include former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members Mpho Ramakatsa and Lufuno Gogoro.

However, though most on social media said they respected her, they added they were against her idea of starting a new political party, as there were already too many in the country.

“Please don’t take it personally Makhosi Khoza, but at the last municipal elections when I got to the voting booth, I thought how bizarre it was that there were so very many political parties to choose from. I couldn’t help but think how fragmented our politics is and of course you can’t please or cater for everyone but do we really need more political parties now in SA? Look at Cope, Shikota, Agang, and I can’t even remember the rest of them,” said one of her followers.

Others said starting a new political party was “unnecessary”, unless she was convinced that her new party would offer something that other parties were not already offering.

“Only time will tell what will be on offer and on that note will give you a benefit of doubt..but as for me oh no we just tired of new formations. Why not find a political home and strengthen it for a better future outside of the arrogant ANC….Be on the watch,” said another.

Khoza has responded to the criticism she received for starting a party.

“My message to them is that there is no turning back. Change is here and change is now,” she said.

Khoza further called on South Africans to join the movement, saying the country needed change.

“We cannot allow ourselves to be led by leaders without principles, courage, morality and ethics. Raise your hand for change, please. Our economy can only recover and jobs created if we elect good leaders that serve the country not selfish interests. Say Yes to Change,” she said.
