Makhosi Khoza hits back at Mthembu’s ‘ill-discipline’ comments

Khoza has come under fire from ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu after she gave an interview to eNCA while at the ruling party’s national policy conference which took place this week.

Mthembu said Khoza was extremely  ill-disciplined, slammed her for speaking to the media and stated she would be brought to book by the ANC. However, Khoza has defended herself, stating she was not out of turn and Mthembu’s comments were made based on a misrepresentation of the facts which were taken out of context.

“I think such is based on being extremely economical with truth or denial of the fact that the ANC is being defined out of power on moral grounds and not on the strength of its policies or Makhosi Khoza’s media pronouncements.

“Our leadership appears to lack courage to act on that which is the root cause of the ANC leadership decline which includes corruption, kleptocracy, greed, crass materialism, bad governance, suffocation of intellectualism and suppression of voices of reason and moral uprightness,” she said.

On speaking out about President Jacob Zuma’s leadership, Khoza said she would not refrain from attempting to save the country.

“If I’m fired I’m taking my history with me. I’m taking the South African dream and that of Africa with me. I shall not leave Cde Nelson Mandela, O.R. Tambo, Charlotte Maxeke, Joe Slovo, Harry Gwala, Albertina Sisulu etc.behind. Their souls are in me. What they stood for remains relevant.”

Khoza says she accepted the interview with eNCA as part of her strategy to be safe and protected as the speaker of parliament has not heeded her request for bodyguards and she felt even more vulnerable after Police Minister Fikile Mbalula likened her to a suicide bomber.

“In hindsight I ought to have placed on record that I accepted the invitation to speak as part of my security and protection strategy. Otherwise, my murder will never be resolved.

“I’m mindful of the fact that journalists would always find a way on getting one to comment on saucy stuff. I diplomatically avoided to respond to anything that had to do with the Policy Conference as there were people duly mandated to do so.”

Makhoza added should she be expelled from the ANC, she would not join opposition parties but would seek to establish a new revolution titled ‘Prosperity for All South Africans’.

“I’m a victim of liberation struggle credentials fatigue. It is very hard to leave one’s political  home voluntarily…I would to see South Africans united behind one mission that we all share and that is “Prosperity, Honesty, Quality and Human Dignity”.

“Let them push me out. Maybe I’ll be free from the liberation struggle credentials fatigue and possibly I might just offer an alternative to our racially, economically and morally divided society.”
