Magashule mum on allegations his daughter ‘scored R9m for doing nothing’

The office of the premier says Magashule does not get involved in procurement processes.

Free State Premier Ace Magashule’s office has declined to comment on allegations that he has been implicated in a lucrative property deal that reportedly saw his long-lost daughter secure R9 million for doing nothing.

This after News24 reported on Wednesday that Magashule’s daughter, Thoko Alice Malembe, scored a controversial property deal with the Free State Development Corporation (FDC) – a government entity whose chairperson is said to be close to the premier.

Magashule’s spokesperson Tiisetso Makhele refused to comment to SABC News regarding the damning allegations, saying the outgoing premier – who is also the secretary-general of the ANC – was not involved in procurement processes.

Malembe reportedly reunited with Magashule in 2011. The 27-year-old businesswoman was born shortly after the premier went into exile in the late 1980s.

Last Friday, the Hawks conducted a search and seizure raid at the Bloemfontein office of the premier and the provincial agriculture department over the controversial Estina Dairy Project, which was allegedly used to siphon millions of rands from the provincial government by the Guptas under the guise of empowering locals as dairy farmers.
