Offender Mahlangu Vusi Jomo is a 40-year-old male serial offender currently serving 10 years for assault and motor vehicle theft.

The escapee was working at the shoe factory of the correctional facility at the time of the escape, and it is believed that he gained access through the roof and escaped through the window.

The offender originates from Kameeldrift, in Siyabuswa. A preliminary investigation is being conducted to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.

The department of correctional services and SAPS have sent an appeal to everyone to assist with any information that could lead to the rearrest of Mahlangu Vusi Jomo.

The public is advised to immediately contact their nearest police station and never attempt to institute a citizen’s arrest. The photo of the offender is also circulated (SEE BELOW) to assist the law enforcement agencies and the citizens to identify the escapee and help to bring them to face the full might of the law.

Although the escape rate is low, the department remains concerned about any escape and continues to strive towards the ideal standard of zero escapes.
