Despite the efforts of community members, security companies and police officers to find three-year-old Liqayat ‘Lee’ Mentoor, he is still missing, Roodepoort Record reports.
Captain Sonja Prinsloo, from the Roodepoort police, said they have been searching non-stop for the missing toddler since his alleged abduction from Roodekrans on 16 March.

“We were joined by community members from Roodepoort and Eldorado Park, security companies, patrollers and paramedics on Saturday,17 March and Sunday, 18 March. We had dogs from the K9 unit assisting in the search, as well as helicopters. Yesterday, 19 March, we searched in and around the Roodekrans/ Wilro Park area from 7.30am until about 4pm, and we will continue these searches every day until Lee is found,” Prinsloo said.
She confirmed that Lee’s mother’s boyfriend was arrested during the weekend, and had appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on a charge of child neglect.
“His case was postponed, and he will remain in custody until his next appearance,” she said.
Prinsloo urged the community to come forward with any information that may lead to finding Lee, and said: “If there is anyone that has any information pertaining to this case, or if there are neighbours who might have CCTV footage that shows the incident in question, we urge them to contact either the Roodepoort Police or, if they feel more comfortable, they can contact the Record, who will then send the information on to us.”
