WATCH: Young elephant bull meets his match

The video was recorded one morning in February 2018 near the Skukuza Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park by Quintin van der Merwe.

Arthur Bridges gave the Lowvelder a recount of what they were told by their guide: “We approached this young elephant bull busy eating some marula fruits that had fallen from the tree. Usually the young elephant bulls are always trying to show their power, but are easily intimidated, so I never take their charges too seriously as I know they will stop.”

Bridges then told everyone to get their cameras ready, because this young bull would probably turn and give them a warning charge. And surely he did, he came so close that his trunk actually touched the car, but just by not moving back and holding my ground, he was intimidated by the vehicle.

“This is always a lot of fun to see as a guide, but one must never get too comfortable around elephants, especially a fully grown bull, always leave them space and remember, they have right of way. Enjoy the video …”
