WATCH: TMPD destroys dagga trees in Centurion

The heavy rains could not stop the Tshwane metro police bylaw unit from uprooting dagga trees in the Highveld area in Centurion and destroying them, Centurion Rekord reports.

Inspector Seun Barrett and his team were busy on Thursday morning at a location that, for security reasons cannot be divulged, after finding two plantations of dagga.

Barrett said the officers received a tip-off and found the plantations with trees that had grown to 1.1m high.

“We are passionate about what we do because it prevents harm to society,” said Barrett.

The dagga was loaded onto a truck and taken away to be destroyed.

Unit commander Patrick Phoshoko thanked his officers for their hard work and dedication for working through the rain.

Phoshoko said his unit’s work often went unnoticed.

“When we prevent drugs from reaching the street, that is a win for us,” Phoshoko said.
