Meanwhile every year, shoppers got up early to take advantage of the big savings at Checkers in Riverside Mall. Although somewhat less congested than last year, there were still trolleys aplenty waiting at the entrance.

Traffic outside Riverside Mall was much busier than inside, except for the court in front of Checkers, Edgars and Mr Price.
With Checkers opening 30 minutes earlier than the other, many early birds could first get some groceries before further queueing for some fashion apparel. After this rush, business went on as usual. Many shops sport creative advertising though, and discerning customers could fill their bags with bargains for the rest of the day.
