Three injured in rear-end collision in Maraisburg

Three people were injured on Sunday evening, 12 November, one of them critically, when a light motor vehicle rear-ended another on the N1 southbound highway in Maraisburg, Roodepoort Record reports.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 5.25pm, and found the two light motor vehicle in the middle of the highway. Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman, believed to be in her 20s, lying trapped inside her vehicle. Two other patients were found walking around on the scene.

Fire services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the woman from her vehicle. Once freed, paramedics assessed the patients and found that the woman had sustained critical injuries while the two others had sustained only minor injuries.
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured woman with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, ER24 paramedics transported the critically injured woman to Helen Joseph Provincial Hospital for urgent care. The two other patients were transported by other services.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
