Road closures, evacuations reported after Meiringspoort flood
The Meiringspoort pass in the Western Cape was closed on Saturday due to heavy flooding.

Four adults and two children were airlifted to safety on Saturday by the Western Cape Department of Health EMS/AMS rescue helicopter, after they were stranded during a flash flood in Meiringspoort in the Western Cape, said Arrive Alive.
The Meiringspoort pass was closed on Saturday after heavy flooding.

On Saturday night, Oudtshoorn Courant reported that the provincial traffic department’s Gerald Bekker said the river levels are being carefully monitored. Bekker added that as soon as the river levels subside, clean up crews will be dispatched to clear the road.
