Randburg public library gets much-needed makeover

The Randburg Public Library on Bram Fischer Drive has received a new lease on life after Phase 2 of recent maintenance work took place, Randburg Sun reports.

The City of Johannesburg library and information services undertook the minor repairs and maintenance work at the beginning of last month.

Ward 102 councillor David Potter said: “The repairs and maintenance include new signage, conversion of a storeroom to a study area, the creation of two offices, painting of doors and skirting, replacing vinyl with carpeting and other general maintenance.”

The library is well used by the community and offers extended operating hours following the mayor’s proclamation on offering this at selected libraries and clinics.

Potter added: “Repairs and maintenance of council facilities are always welcomed, particularly in the interest of serving the residents of the city with pride. While much has been achieved in the maintenance of some council facilities in Ward 102, much remains to be done due to the inherited and massive backlog.”

The library opens at 9am and closes at 6pm from Mondays to Thursdays; opens at 9am and closes at 1pm on a Friday and from 9am to 1pm on a Saturday. The library is closed on Sundays.

During the winter months from May to August, the library will close at 5.30pm.
