This is the sixth such arrest this year, said South Africa Council for Educators (Sace) spokesperson Themba Ndhlovu.

“She was arrested at the Sace head office in Centurion for presenting fraudulent qualifications with the intent of registering as a teacher.”
“This paints a bleak picture on the extent of the problem of teachers teaching with fake qualifications,” he said.
“If six people get arrested within a month, it means there are more teachers in the system with fraudulent qualifications.”
Ndhlovu said teaching with fraudulent qualifications was a serious offence that could lead to imprisonment.
“We would like to appeal to schools to be vigilant in identifying such individuals.”
The woman, who is said to be in her 20s, will appear in court on Friday.
