“Airport Company of South Africa (ACSA) staff had a memorable (but in a bad way) ‘day at the office’”.
“This snake was slithering on bags in the cargo area! A night adder (Causus rhombeatus).”
The post further explains that the ACSA Wildlife department was called, and the snake was brought to FFW. Senior animal manager Claudius Sibanda set up an enclosure for the snake, and called Shaun Hefer of Reptile and Wildlife Release (RAWR) to confirm the snake’s identity.
Hefer confirmed that the snake was in a good condition, and recommended immediate release. RAWR volunteer Gareth Cooke collected and released the snake in a conservancy.
“It’s wonderful to have this sort of collaboration with people like RAWR. How different the outcome COULD have been for this night adder without cooperation between our wildlife groups.
“Always for the benefit of our wildlife,” read the post.
