The Tshwane metro launched a new A Re Yeng bus rapid transit route, which includes the Denneboom bridge in Waltloo, Pretoria east on Monday.
The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) line 2 engineering work comprised conventional BRT bus ways from the CBD to Mahube Valley in Mamelodi East, reports Pretoria East Rekord.
Line 2C extends from the Atterbury/January Masilela intersection to Lynnwood Road, from Lynnwood Road to Simon Vermooten Road and across Waltloo Road into Zasm Street.

Zasm Street extends through a new underpass under the Waltloo bridge towards the Denneboom inter-modal facility.
What remained on its launch day was the planting of trees and the handover of movable shelters to Denneboom Barekisi vendors.
Altogether, 20 street vendors were affected by the project, as their shelters had to be removed from the demarcated areas during construction.
Tshwane mayor Stevens Mokgalapa applauded the team of roads and transport for their display of leadership in their collaborative efforts to make this a reality without any major hindrance.
“This is what I mean when I say service delivery is my only priority. I am proud to be associated with this winning team of roads and transport.”
He said the launch was a significant milestone, which would go a long way towards “transforming spatial apartheid planning”.
“A Re Yeng is truly living its slogan of connecting the capital, as we build a world-class capital of South Africa.”
Mokgalapa said the project was not without challenges.
“Our challenges, however, offered us the opportunity to make the best out of the situation.”
He said he was proud of roads and transport MMC Sheila Senkubuge and her department for the wisdom and compassion to allow hawkers to continue with their daily business.
“For that, we applaud you.
“The optimisation strategy has been developed to provide clear strategic direction to accelerate the implementation of the next phases of A Re Yeng.
“The network is being implemented in several phases to provide an extensive high-quality integrated transportation network, stimulating and supporting social and economic development.”
