Nelson Mandela Drive closed after fatal 3-vehicle collision near Madiba Park

The R521 road was closed this morning following a fatal 3-vehicle collision in which one person was killed and twelve injured, Bosveld Review reports.
The accident occurred along Nelson Mandela Drive near Madiba Park in Limpopo at around 08:30 this morning (Monday).

“We can confirm that the driver of a Toyota Corolla allegedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a Mercedez-Benz and a Toyota Quantum which were travelling in the opposite direction, said Spokesperson for the Traffic Department, Matoma Moremi-Taueatsoala.

“The driver of the Quantum was killed on impact. Six people including the driver of the Corolla and Mercedezs-Benz sustained critical injuries and six other passengers sustained serious injuries. All injuries parties were treated on the scene and transported to a nearby hospital,” he added.
A case of reckless driving and speeding is being investigated. Personnel from the Polokwane Municipality are still on the scene, he concluded.
