Learners picketed outside the school, shouting slogans such as “No school, no learning!” They carried placards with slogans saying “No toilets, no learning”, “# toilets for us please” and “respect our dignity”.
The children explained that they had been without toilets since the beginning of the second semester, because the hired toilets they had been using since the opening of the school in 2016 were removed by the service provider.
Parents who attended the picket said the school will be closed until the education department solves this pressing issue.
At the time of publishing, the spokesperson for the department, Jasper Zwane, had not yet responded to questions.
