A non-CPS Security client helped to arrest three robbers in Alberton recently, Alberton Record reports.

The person called CPS Security and said his domestic worker had contacted him and informed him there were three unknown men at the gate of his house.

The men allegedly told the domestic worker they were there to install underfloor heating. Before she allowed them access she wanted to confirm the facts with her employer. By the time she came back out, the three men had already left and CPS’s reaction units were already waiting outside.

“The domestic worker gave them a description of the vehicle, and a lookout was posted to our ground team. The suspects’ vehicle was located within one minute in a street nearby,” said Tyrone van der Merwe, sales director from CPS Security.

“Our reaction unit began to tail the vehicle. CPS Tactical Team members intercepted the vehicle after it attempted to [get] away.

“All three suspects were successfully arrested in Phillips Street after their vehicle had come to a standstill. The vehicle was searched and several items like crowbars, gloves, cables ties and blue Conti-suits were discovered.

“Alberton SAPS was contacted and assisted at the scene.

“On further investigation, we discovered that the suspects’ getaway vehicle was taken in a business robbery in Sandton in 2014. Two of the three suspects was also linked to two separate cases of house robbery and was positively wanted. One on a Brackendowns case and the other on a Grasfontein case,” said Van der Merwe.

“This specific syndicate has been operating in the Verwoerdpark and Florentia area for the past few weeks where they have been mentioned fitting the description in four other incidents. We urge the public to train your domestics not to be fooled by these guys and allow them access. Rather contact your local security company or Alberton SAPS 011 861 6800 or Brackenhurst SAPS 011 617 5600 / 5601. “Please also take note that we are entering the festive, or so-called silly season and crime tends to increase. Test your alarm systems and be extra cautious when entering your property. For any advice or assistance feel free to contact our control room at 011 024 2426,” he said.
