Two suspects were arrested for being involved in Uber-related carjackings that occurred in Amanzimtoti, KwaMakhutha, Umlazi, Bellair and Cato Manor in KwaZulu-Natal, Chatsworth Rising Sun reports.
Prior to the arrests, the Provincial Task Team of eThekwini Outer South Cluster received information on suspects involved in Uber-related carjackings and immediately followed up.

Communications officer of Umlazi SAPS Captain C Rhynes said: “They arrested two men, aged 30 and 23, who are suspected to be linked to a group of criminals involved in carjackings and robberies of Uber taxi drivers.”
These arrests may lead to more arrests of carjackers in the Durban area.
Acting eThekwini Outer South cluster commander Brigadier MVP Mgobhozi said: “I welcome these excellent arrests made by the Provincial Task Team. I am hopeful that this will lead to more arrests in the near future.”
She added: “I am sure these arrests will certainly have an impact on reducing or minimising Uber-related carjackings and robberies. We will continue to remove carjackers and ensure they are imprisoned and removed from our streets.”
