KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating a case of murder and one of assault with grievous bodily harm after a pensioner was stabbed to death and her husband brutally attacked by the suspect’s father, Zululand Observer reports.
The murder occurred at about 7.30pm on Sunday, 18 March, near the couple’s home in eZwenelisha near Mtubatuba.

According to Mtubatuba SAPS spokesperson Captain Justice Hlabisa, the 77-year-old woman and her husband were walking home when two brothers who live next door to them, approached from behind.
“One of the young men pulled out a knife and just started stabbing the old woman,” said Hlabisa. She woman died at the scene.
When the victim’s husband reported the murder to the suspect’s father, he allegedly attacked the old man with a knobkierie.
The old man was transported to hospital for treatment to his injuries, but was later discharged.
Both the young man and his father were arrested on Monday, 19 March, and detained at the Mtubatuba police cells.
According to Hlabisa, the men said there was a feud between them and their neighbours, but failed to say why.
Mtubatuba SAPS have opened a case of murder against the knife attacker and a case of assault against his father.
At the time of going to print, the two were yet to make their first court appearance.
