Krugersdorp War Against Drugs: avoid these areas

Over the past few days, Krugersdorp CBD has become a danger zone to a great many residents and motorists passing through the area, Krugersdorp News reports.

This follows after a group of people originating from Kagiso set houses alight in both the CBD and Burgershoop areas in effort of reclaiming the city from crime, drugs and human trafficking.

Over the weekend various messages has been making the rounds, urging residents to refrain from going to work, school, or using any form of transport on Monday, 22 January. This morning residents of the Krugersdorp West and Dan Pienaarville areas were woken up to the sound of protest, burning tyres and later fired shots coming from the general direction of Munsieville. This protest is still ongoing and motorists are urged to avoid the Southern entrance of Munsieville.

Even though residents were warned to stay out of the CBD area, there hasn’t been any form of protests reported yet. Local police and traffic police have also gathered from as early as 6am at the SA Eagle House in effort of ensuring the safety of local residents.

Other areas that can possibly be affected later on include the M13, Tudor and Mclean road in Chamdor and Robert Broom. Local police have also blocked off a number of Chamdor extensions.

Residents are urged to stay safe and avoid all areas mentioned above. More information will be made available as soon as possible.
