“Advertising trailers depicting sexually offensive images will not be approved by council,” said Ward 97 councillor and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Development, Leah Knott, in response to illegal Luvland trailers that were recently removed from the intersection of Christiaan de Wet and Paul Kruger Roads in Radiokop, Roodepoort Northsider reports.
Knott explained that even though the trailers had been placed without council permission in the first place, given their content, they would not have been approved in terms of the council’s bylaws.

Knott clarified that trailers fall under transit advertising unless approved by council and given a designated area with an approval sticker.
“Trailers fall under transit advertising, [which means] they need to be constantly moving,” she explained.
Should a trailer be approved, Knott said they are allocated to a designated area with an approval sticker.
She added that the current placement of some of the trailers is illegal, not only because they don’t have council approval – but also because they are placed where they can blow over and cause a danger to motorists, or obstruct the view of motorists.
She went on to say that they have engaged the advertising companies extensively about new by-laws, which are set to come into effect soon.
