Gatvol Pretoria motorist plants tree in massive pothole

An irate resident allegedly planted a two-metre tree, which has since been removed, in Rietfontein on Monday night.

Pretoria Moot motorists were astonished and amused on Tuesday morning when they came across a tree planted in a pothole that had developed in the middle of a busy two-way street.

Apparently, an irate resident planted the two-metre tree on Monday night near the corner of Frates and Frederika streets in Rietfontein, in frustration at the inaction of the Tshwane metro to fill up the huge pothole, reports Pretoria Moot Rekord.

Ward 53 councillor Juanita du Plooy said plans were underway to repair the pothole.

“The issue was brought to my attention last night, and I passed the message on to the Region 3 director of roads and stormwater last night already.

“Tshwane metro police removed the tree this morning and the roads team will be assisting in fixing it as soon as possible,” she said.

The tree was removed on Tuesday morning.
