FORA animal shelter filled to capacity
The animal shelter is urging the public to see what wonderful animals are up for adoption.

They say you should strive to be the person your dog thinks you are. However, it is difficult to do so if you have no furry bundle to love you back.
The Friends of Rescued Animals (FORA) foundation has over 500 pets in its care that you can choose from to complete your family. With more than 300 dogs and more than 150 cats, there are plenty to pick and choose from, reports Krugersdorp News.

The shelter is currently unable to take in any more rescued animals as they are at full capacity. They do, however, still help animals in need as they work closely with other shelters, foundations, and vets to get them the help they need.
Every animal at this shelter comes with a story, some of them too awful to imagine. Tiger’s owner burnt him with hot oil. The wounds have healed but the scars will remain because Tiger’s hair will never grow back.
Cage 31 houses two female Great Danes left behind when their family decided to move without them. They are adorable and look almost like twins.
Coreen Clark, a member of Fora, said some of the dogs have spent their whole lives at the shelter. When Hercules came in as a puppy four years ago, he had to be bottle fed and has never been adopted.
Once puppies arrive at FORA, they are kept in isolation and later moved to the Tea Garden where they learn how to adapt to other dogs. Some of them live in the offices and are moved to the main shelter once new pups come in.
Krugersdorp News found two dogs sleeping on a blanket in the office. They were transfers from Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw). When Claw took them in, both were malnourished and as a result, suffered from Rickets disease which affected their bones and growth.
There are also more than 10 rescued greyhounds that are looking for new homes.
FORA gladly accepts help from anyone who volunteers. They can take the animals out and play with them. They also have a basic wish list.
They need blankets because all the animals get clean blankets every day. They also are in need of garden equipment, household cleaning supplies, dog pellets, cat pellets, and soft dog and cat food.
