A drive back home after attending a music concert in Richards Bay ended in tragedy early on Sunday morning when four people died in a horrific crash near the eSikhaweni cemetery.
While details of the accident were still sketchy at the time of going to print, police confirmed that two women and two men died on impact when their VW Golf collided with a truck in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to witnesses at the scene, the occupants of the car attended the Black Coffee concert and were returning home.
They told police the truck driver escaped with minor injuries, but left the scene soon after the accident, claiming that he was going to the nearest clinic for medical treatment.
His whereabouts are still unknown and police are conducting a search to locate him.
According to eSikhawini SAPS communications officer Captain Thembinkosi Mkhumane, a culpable homicide case has been opened at eSikhaleni.
“We don’t have full details as the driver vanished before the police arrived. The names of the deceased will only be released once their relatives have been located and informed.”
The crash followed another accident in Richards Bay half an hour earlier when music lovers attending the same concert escaped with minor injuries when their car rolled near Alton.
Some of the injured were attended to at the scene, while others were taken to Ngwelezana Hospital for treatment.
