The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) recently ordered seven Nyalas through The Future of Motion (TFM) Company, as part of its quest to deal with violent public protests in a non-lethal fashion, reports Kathorus Mail.
The Nyala is an agile and highly protected armoured personnel carrier to ensure effective policing for crowd management while ensuring the safety of police members in riot situations.

The vehicles have ballistic armour, as well as ballistic glass for the protection of occupants.
They are also fitted with hydraulically operated front dozer blades capable of removing objects blockading roads and have roof-mounted cable cutters.
Some of the metro’s community safety oversight committee members also had the opportunity of visiting the factory and seeing the Nyalas in production.
