Durban North parking space row leads to shootout

A row over a parking space on Adelaide Tambo (Kensington Drive), Durban, has led to a shootout between two people, North Glen News reports.

Durban North SAPS spokesman Capt Raymond Deokaran said the incident occurred just after lunchtime on Thursday.

According to reports, the row started when a delivery truck driver got into an altercation with a woman who had parked in a loading bay on Adelaide Tambo Drive.

“The woman in the altercation pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the driver before cocking her weapon. The driver in turn pulled out his firearm and allegedly fired two shots in her direction, one of the bullets grazed the woman’s leg, injuring her. The driver of the delivery vehicle has been charged with attempted murder and the injured woman has been taken to the hospital. The woman has been charged with pointing of a firearm and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm,” he said.

Deokaran urged residents and motorists to cool the emotional temperature on the roads following the road rage incident.

This is the first incident of road rage this year. In August last year a taxi driver was charged with malicious damage to property after he used his warning triangle to smash a motorist’s side mirror in a road rage incident on the N2 near the Sibaya off-ramp.
