Disaster management on alert across KZN for possible flooding
Last year houses were swept away and lives lost when heavy rains devastated the region in October.
Cold and wet weather has been predicted
KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Nomusa Dube-Ncube has placed her department’s Disaster Management teams on alert across the province, with heavy rains expected to hit the eastern parts of KZN today, Ladysmith Gazette reports.
“Heavy rains, which can cause localised flooding, pose a serious risk to motorists and pedestrians. We therefore urge our Disaster Management teams to pay close attention to routes that are prone to flooding. We also urge motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution,” said Dube-Ncube.
