Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Constable Itumeleng Maduna said the baby was found by a resident, who allegedly saw the dumped box and became suspicious.

“The resident then went to look and contacted the police,” said Maduna.

Maduna added the paramedics declared the baby dead on the scene.

No one has been arrested in connection with the crime.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
