WATCH: Motorists blatantly ignore newly erected stop sign on N1 in Limpopo

The stop sign was erected earlier in this week, however, motorists continue to ignore the stop sign and drive through it at a pace without stopping.

Motorists travelling on the N1 northbound were surprised to find a newly erected three way stop sign at the Soetdorings T-Junction in Limpopo.

The stop sign was erected earlier in this week, however, motorists who are not aware have been blatantly ignoring it and driving through it without stopping, reports Polokwane Review.

In two videos sent to Polokwane Review, one can see vehicles passing through the stop sign at high speeds, disobeying the rules of the road.

On Tuesday, the Doornbult CPF posted a warning, notifying motorists of the three way stop. “Be extremely careful with this crossing, make sure that the N1 traffic stops at the new stop before you cross the intersection. As it is new, it will take a while before the N1 traffic is accustomed to the new stop,” the notice read.

According to the spokesperson for the department of transport, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, the N1 is under the management of Sanral and they would “normally erect such on request by the municipality concerned,” he said.

Review is currently awaiting comment from municipal spokesperson, Thipa Selala on the matter.
