Coffins containing bodies dumped at Lebombo border

A funeral parlour had dumped three coffins containing the bodies of Mozambican citizens at the border on Saturday.


Three coffins containing the bodies of Mozambican citizens were dumped at the Lebombo border in Mpumalanga on Saturday, reports Mpumalanga News.

According to a consulate official, the bodies of two men and one woman was being transported from Johannesburg to Maputo province and Gaza.

“When they got there they found out the paperwork was not in order, and just dumped the coffins on the road and left.”

The relatives accompanying the bodies were put up overnight in a house in Ressano Garcia. “We contacted the government-run morgue in Tonga and the bodies were kept there. Our offices in Pretoria, together with the department of health, arranged the paperwork.

“The last paperwork was finished on Tuesday, all the bodies have been repatriated to Mozambique,” he concluded.
