E-waste disposal project launched in Mamelodi
The programme aims to clean up the garages and storerooms within the community and to raise funds for the Mediro Foundation.

Mamelodi-based Mediro Foundation has launched an electronic waste management programme.
Programme co-ordinator Thabo Sibanyoni said the purpose of the project was to create employment for the youth and more youth-owned e-waste enterprises, he told Pretoria East Rekord.
The e-waste disposal programme refers to electronic products that have reached the end of their functionality such as computers, TVs, VCRs, copiers, fax machines, and cellphones.

The programme aims to clean up the garages and storerooms within the community that have old electronic products, as well as to raise funds for the Mediro Foundation, a non-profit organisation that offers free education, training, and skills development in the healthcare sector.
Sibanyoni said the old electronic products would be reassembled into different parts and sold to different companies to raise funds.
“The aim of the e-waste management programme is to give the youth of Mamelodi a helping hand to have a brighter future.
“If you have any of the electronic products listed above and have no use of them, donate them to Mediro Foundation at 14049 Malema Street, Mamelodi East, from Monday to Friday,” said Sibanyoni.
