Power utility Eskom announced on Thursday morning that they do not anticipate that there will be a need for load shedding as the power system was stable.

“However, should we experience additional generating unit failure the possibility of load shedding may intensify in which case Eskom will notify customers accordingly,” Eskom said.

Eskom said they had met the country’s electricity demand while operating its generation fleet in a sustainable manner for over two weeks, resulting in no load shedding for 18 consecutive days.

“We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 6am to 10am and 50m to 9pm.”
