Limpopo cops probe culpable homicide case after five die in horror R521 crash

Police in Westernburg near Polokwane are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a red Mitsubishi double cab bakkie with five occupants driving towards Polokwane collided with a truck on the Dendron Road (R521) on Saturday morning, Limpopo police said.

All the occupants of the bakkie were burnt beyond recognition, Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

The driver of the truck escaped with minor injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment. The identities, gender, race, and ages of the victims would be determined through DNA tests. The cause of the crash was still unknown and police investigations were continuing, Ngoepe said.
