Lesufi calls Ndlozi ‘one of the brightest minds of our time’

Gauteng MEC for education Panyaza Lesufi, who News24 reports is campaigning to be elected ANC Gauteng deputy chairperson, expressed gratitude to EFF spokesperson Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi for deciding to worship with his congregation this past weekend.

In a tweet, Lesufi, who is reportedly running against former City of Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau and Gauteng MEC for economic development Lebogang Maile for the position of provincial deputy chair, described Ndlozi as an intelligent individual.

“One of the brightest minds of our time! Best wishes Fighter Dr. Ndlozi,” Lesufi captioned a picture of himself and the EFF commissar.

Lesufi, Tau and Maile will contest for the position of Gauteng ANC deputy chair at the party’s provincial conference scheduled for July, where Gauteng premier David Makhura could possibly go head to head with former Tshwane mayor Kgosientso ‘Sputla’ Ramokgopa, the news website reports.

According to reports in the media, Makhura has been accused of using state resources to investigate his political opponents.

News24 reports Makhura recently announced the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) would investigate alleged corruption in the provincial department of economic development headed by Maile.

The ANC alliance partners, Cosatu and the SACP, in Gauteng have expressed their support for the premier, saying Makhura’s efforts to deal with corruption should be supported, EWN reports.

Lesufi is reportedly of the view that the party should elect leaders that can help it regain ground lost following the 2016 local government elections.

Makhura told News24 last week that the DA’s hopes of winning Gauteng had been shattered, as the ANC would recover lost votes in the country’s economic hub in next year’s 2019 general elections.
