The South African National Lottery announced that a person who purchased a PowerBall PLUS ticket from a Rose Park café in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, has won a whopping R14 111 886, reports the Ladysmith Gazette.
The winning ticket was purchased on January 24.
However, the lucky winner is still unknown.
The winner purchased a PowerBall Plus at a mere R15 from Veez Planet, which is located in the Rose Park area of Ladysmith.
Shop owner Geetha Mangroo said: “I am very happy that one of my customers won the R14 million.”
Mangroo was contacted by the National Lottery to tell her that the winning Lotto ticket was purchased in her shop.
Many Lotto players visit her shop on a daily basis from all around Ladysmith, so she cannot say who the winner is. Nevertheless, Mangroo has received many calls and had many customers walking in to find out who the winner is.
In the past, the shop has had winners of small amounts, and perhaps many still do not know about. According to Mangroo, this is the first time anyone has won millions from a ticket purchased at her shop.
Mangroo congratulated the winner and hoped there were many more to come from tickets bought at Veez Planet.
There was definitely a buzz around town after the announcement of the R14 million win.
