It seems former ANC member Makhosi Khoza is looking for a new political home, and has asked her social media users to help her make that decision. Khoza recently took to social media to ask her followers to vote on whether she should find a new political home.
“This is part of my consultation process. I have been approached by many civil society, social movements and many individuals especially young people and women, notably feminists. So, I am testing my loyal constituency, Facebook. I have to make a final decision latest March 2018 in order to prepare well,” she said.
One of the people who commented was former ANC MP Vytjie Mentor, who gave her a word of advice regarding whatever move she chooses to make.
“I would advise you to move with caution,” said Mentor
The rest of her followers suggested political parties they thought she should join, while other advised her to start her own.
“I would like to see you debating in parliament, alongside Shivambu, Dr Ndlozi, Malema et al. Forget about this new party thing. Also we need a forum similar to the AfriForum. My dream is to see you leading that particular forum not some political party. Amen,” said one commenter.
Some disagreed with the follower, saying Khoza would not fit in with the MPs in red.
“EFF is not suitable for Dr Makhosi as its extreme left lopsided to blackness. Remember Makhosi wants to build a united organization that includes all races – a real multiracial organisation for future of South Africa,” said another.
These were some of the comments:
“The question many of us ANC members, especially those that were born into the ANC, is how do you divorce yourself from the ANC and still live? Than again one would say what if the ANC divorced you. What do you do when the character of the party cease to exist? It tough times for many of us, it painful times. Our party is torn apart by blind loyalty and sheer arrogance.”
“Please wait for December Mama. See what happens. ANC is your home. The ANC I knew growing up has been hijacked but maybe it can still be saved. For now just do community service. Still remember the first day I saw you when your busy with the SABC and said to myself wow this lady has more BALLS than many men I know.”
“Careful please. Don’t end up like AGANG. A political party is not child’s play.”
