Hlaudi: ‘I was admitted to hospital for three days before my press briefing’

Suspended controversial SABC executive Hlaudi Motsoeneng was reportedly hospitalised after his open and direct press conference last week, The Sowetan reports.

Though he told the newspaper his hospitalisation was not for a serious health problem, he was adamant it had nothing to do with the controversies clouding his time at the public broadcaster.

“I went to hospital last week, and after the press conference I returned to the hospital for a minor, personal and routine issue, which is not serious.

“Before the press conference, I was admitted for three days, and I did a followup by being readmitted,” Motsoeneng was quoted as saying.

“I am soldier and a fighter. I enjoy myself and enjoy the fight,” he said on whether the scandals had a toll on his health.

During his press conference – which the interim board has communicated its intention to summarily dismiss him for, among other charges – Motsoeneng attacked the new board and mocked a parliamentary inquiry into the affairs of the state broadcaster.
